Suresh Raina, the cricketing icon fondly called “Chinna Thala” by Chennai Super Kings fans, is all set to swap his cricket bat for the camera as he makes his acting debut in Tamil cinema.
The former Indian cricketer, a household name in Tamil Nadu thanks to his 15-season stint with CSK, will star in a film produced by Dream Knight Stories (DKS). And judging by the announcement video, his entry is nothing short of blockbuster.
Suresh Raina’s Heroic Film Entry
The production house, DKS, took to Instagram to reveal the grand welcome for Raina into Kollywood. The video shows Raina walking into a packed cricket stadium, fans roaring, banners waving, and a “mass” low-angle shot that screams hero material. The film, currently untitled, is directed by Logan and bankrolled by D Saravana Kumar.
“Welcoming Chinna Thala @sureshraina3 on board for #DKSProductionNo1,” read the caption on the video that has already set social media abuzz.
A Natural Fan Favourite in Tamil Nadu
Raina’s popularity in Tamil Nadu is unmatched. As vice-captain of CSK for several seasons under MS Dhoni, he was instrumental in the team’s four IPL title wins. His consistent performances earned him the nickname “Mr IPL,” with 5,528 runs in the tournament, including a century and 39 fifties.
