In a tragic incident, former England all-rounder and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Andrew Flintoff was involved in an accident while shooting for the BBC show ‘Top Gear’. Subsequently, he had to be airlifted to the hospital while filming at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey, England.
“Freddie (Andrew Flintoff) was injured in an accident at the Top Gear test track this morning with crew medics attending the scene immediately. He has been taken to hospital for further treatment and we will confirm more details in due course,” said a BBC spokesperson.
The explosive all-rounder had helped England win the Ashes for the first time in 18 years in 2005. He announced his retirement from Test cricket after the conclusion of the 2009 Ashes series. He played in only one season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2009 and turned out for MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings. However, he could play only three games for CSK.
Flintoff is popular for his fiery bowling and hard-hitting batting. He was a utility player for England during his playing time lending the much-needed equilibrium to the team composition.
He also ended his career in other forms of the sport in 2010. He last competed in professional boxing in Manchester in November 2012, defeating American Richard Dawson by unanimous decision.
