Sourav Ganguly bats for Rohit Sharma as Team India captain for T20 World Cup 2024

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has given his strong support for Rohit Sharma to continue as Team India captain until the T20 World Cup in 2024.

The former southpaw hailed Rohit’s leadership qualities. He also emphasized Rohit’s effective leadership role in Indian cricket team’s recent success. Ganguly also acknowledged Rohit’s stellar performance in the recently concluded ICC ODI World Cup 2023 and labeled him as a ‘true leader’.

“Rohit Sharma should be the captain of India because he has done so well in the World Cup. He is a leader. So I expect, and I presume that he will continue as captain till the T20 World Cup,” said Ganguly during an interview.

Notably, Rohit took over the reins as India’s full-time T20I skipper after the T20 World Cup in 2021. Under his leadership, India has achieved remarkable success, securing victories in 39 out of 51 matches. Rohit recently led the team in the ODI World Cup 2023, where India finished runners-up after losing against Australia in the final.
