India’s young batting prodigy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, has found fresh inspiration in Test captain Shubman Gill, who recently lit up Edgbaston with a magnificent double century in the second Test against England. Gill recorded his maiden Test double hundred, amassing 269 runs adorned with 30 fours and three sixes.

As records tumbled, Suryavanshi, accompanied by the India Under-19 team currently touring England for five Youth ODIs and two Youth Tests, was present in the stands witnessing the brilliance unfold.

“This is my first time watching a Test match in England, and it feels amazing. Watching the game live has been a great experience. We all came together to see it, and it’s been incredibly inspiring. Shubman Gill is someone we all look up to. Playing red-ball cricket for India is a dream we all share,” Suryavanshi said in a video shared by the BCCI.

Adding to his own list of achievements, Suryavanshi recently blazed to the second-fastest half-century by an Indian in Under-19 ODIs. During the third Youth ODI against England in Northampton, the 14-year-old reached his fifty in just 20 balls before smashing 86 off just 31 deliveries. His explosive knock powered India to chase down 269 in only 34.3 overs, securing a 2-1 series lead.

In the opening ODI, he had already made headlines with a rapid-fire 48 off 18 balls, including five sixes and three fours, helping India chase down a modest target of 145 and start the series with a win.
