After his sublime 92 vs Sri lanka at Wankhede Stadium in the ICC World Cup 2023, Shubman Gill is now the No 1 batsman in the world as per the latest ICC Rankings. He has dethroned Babar Azam from the position who held that position for 952 days.

Shubman Gill made a dream start to his international cricket churning on records in ODI format. He is also the youngest player to reach 200 in ODIs.

Hailing from Punjab, Shubman made his debut in 2019 and since then, he has been a regular feature in the ODI team due to some stellar performances. Till now, he has 6 hundreds to his name with an average of over 60 and blistering strike rate of 102.

Shubman Gill first came into the limelight in the under 19 World Cup 2018 where he was the second-highest run-getter for India and played a crucial role for India to win Under 19 World Cup in 2018. He scored 372 runs in that tournament with 1 hundred and 2 fifties to his name. His hundred 102* came against Pakistan in the semi-final in Hagley Oval Christchurch.

By achieving this feat, he became the second fastest India to reach No. 1 ranking in One Day Internationals (ODIs) with 41 innings. Ms Dhoni was the first to achieve this historic feat in 2006 in 38 innings.

In the bowling charts, Mohammad Siraj also reclaimed his No. 1 spot from Shaheen Afridi.
