The former great played a grand total of 45 matches in the mega tournament, spread across six different editions, starting from 1992 to 2011. During his illustrious World Cup journey, India’s greatest batsman amassed 2,278 runs, including six centuries.
Moreover, fans will be excited to know that Sachin scored his maiden World Cup century against minnows Kenya at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack in the 1996 edition of the marquee event.
In this tournament, Sachin became the first batsman to reach 500 runs milestone in a single edition of Cricket World Cup with an impressive average of 87.17 and a strike rate of 85.87.

In reply, India’s opening duo of Sachin and Ajay Jadeja stitched together an effective partnership of 163 runs to chase down the target with ease. Sachin scored 127 of 138 balls with the help of 15 fours and a six with the strike rate of 92.03. It was Sachin’s fifth ODI century. It was a memorable occasion for Sachin as it was his first ton in the World Cup. The Master Blaster was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant match-winning knock.
