Row over 12 players of a team on pitch during Hockey World Cup match

The FIH issued a clarification saying that the Japanese team extended their apologies citing that they hadn’t realised it at all.

In a startling turn of events during the FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup match between Japan and Korea, 12 Japanese players were reportedly present on the field of play triggering a row. 

As per the FIH guidelines, a maximum of 11 players can remain on the field of play. However, FIH officials could not spot the 12 players during the passage of play. After the matter came to the fore, FIH officials spoke to the team.
