After announcing his retirement from Tests and T20Is, veteran batsman Raohit Sharma is only available for ODIs. Currently, Rohit is the captain of the Indian ODI team.

The aggressive right-hander still cherishes the dream to play in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2027. However, under the current circumstance, Rohit's chances of playing in the mega event seems doubtful amid BCCI's planning for a transition in ODIs.

As per reports, BCCI expected Rohit Sharma to retire from all forms of cricket when he quit Test cricket. However, the 38-year-old surprised one and all with his decision to continue in ODIs, with an eye on the World Cup 2027.

However, BCCI might not be too keen to let Rohit continue. As per sources, while there are no discussions in place, chief selector Ajit Agarkar would be entrusted with setting up a leadership transition.

Moreover, 2027 World Cup is more than two years away. By the time the big tournament arrives, Rohit will be 40 years old. Whether he will have the form and fitness to merit a spot in India's playing XI, that too without captaincy, will be a big question.
