The BCCI has announced the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 Men’s Cricket World Cup, 2024 that will be played in USA and West Indies. While all the deserving players have been selected, one most-deserving player who couldn’t make it to the final list is none other than batting star Rinku Singh.
With his terrific form, Rinku has been exception for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing IPL 2024. Going by his performance, everyone expected he would be the first choice for the Indian squad. Unfortunately, for reasons best known to the selectors, Rinku Singh has been excluded from the team.
Hitman Rohit Sharma, who is the captain of team India, made sure to interact with Rinku Singh and cheer him up. During the KKR’s practice session, Rohit personally met Rinku and interacted with him to make him feel special.
After addressing the media at BCCI’s headquarters, Rohit interacted with Rinku at the Wankhede Stadium ahead of the clash between MI and KKR. Taking to their X handle, MI shared a video in which Rinku can be seen smiling as Rohit approaches him and talks to him.
Currently, Rinku is in the reserve list and not included in the team. Talking about his performance, he has amassed a whopping 356 runs for India in 15 T20Is. Taking about Rinku Singh’s exclusion, chief selector Ajit Agarkar said that it was unfortunate and the toughest decision.
“It’s probably the toughest decision. He has done nothing wrong nor Shubman Gill for that matter. It’s about the combination. We wanted to have enough options. A couple of spinners were included in the squad… It’s just unfortunate,” Agarkar stated.
