The long-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) is under a potential cloud of uncertainty, quite literally. With both teams eyeing their maiden IPL title, weather forecasts for Tuesday evening in Ahmedabad have raised concerns over possible rain interruptions.

Evening Showers a Real Possibility

While the daytime forecast appears mostly sunny and dry, meteorological predictions show a sharp spike in rain chances after 9:30 PM, with thunderstorms likely between 10:30 PM and 1:30 AM.

The highest chance of rainfall, 50%, is expected at 11:30 PM, when the match could well be at a decisive stage or in its closing moments.

As per IPL playing conditions, an extra two hours can be added to the scheduled time to accommodate any weather-induced delays.

If the match is not completed on Tuesday, it will resume on the reserve day, Wednesday. However, should the reserve day also be washed out, Punjab Kings will be declared champions for finishing higher on the points table during the league phase.

Scorching Heat Gives Way to Uncertainty

Meanwhile, Ahmedabad has been reeling under intense heat, with temperatures soaring to 39 degree Celsius and humidity levels rising steadily. The evening forecast shows some relief, with mercury dipping to 29 degree Celsius, but this is also when rain is expected to arrive. Cloud cover is projected at 33%, keeping teams and fans on edge until the skies clear or open.

RCB, PBKS Chase Elusive Glory

Tuesday’s showdown is more than just a final, as it is a chance to script history. Both RCB and PBKS have been part of the IPL since its inception, but have never won the trophy. Punjab Kings entered the final after a dominant Qualifier 2 win over Mumbai Indians, powered by captain Iyer’s blistering 87 not out off 41 balls.

RCB, meanwhile, secured their berth after a clinical performance in Qualifier 1, defeating PBKS convincingly. Though Punjab won the first head-to-head this season, Bengaluru has won the last two encounters, including the all-important knockout.
