Following a series of off-field distractions, promising batter Prithvi Shaw seems to have got back his focus in cricket.

After getting the all-important support from Delhi Capitals head coach and Australian legendry cricketer Ricky Ponting, Shaw has got the backing from former Team India captain and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly.

While Ponting had backed Shaw to do well in the cash-rich Indian Premier League 2023, as per Ganguly, the talented batter is ready to play for the Men in Blue again.

“The Indian selectors and the current skipper Rohit Sharma are keeping a close eye on Shaw. I think he is a good player and ready to play for India again. Whether he gets an opportunity will depend on slots,” said Ganguly.

Notably, Shaw’s last international outing for Team India was against Sri Lanka in 2021. The flamboyant opener was picked for the home series against New Zealand earlier this year. However, he only warmed the bench with Shubman Gill getting the nod ahead of him.

A couple of days earlier, Ponting had backed Shaw by saying that the promising youngster has worked hard and trained better than ever.

“He is in a better physical shape than I have seen him before. I honestly feel this is going to be his biggest season ever in the IPL. He just has that different look in his eyes this year and he probably hungry than ever. I think everyone will get to see the real Prithvi Shaw this year,” Ponting had said.
