Paris Olympics 2024: Fans hail PR Sreejesh as the great wall of India after victory against Great Britain

Indian hockey team edged out Great Britain 4-2 in the shootout in quarterfinals of Paris Olympics on Sunday to reach the semifinal.

In the shootout, the goalkeeper and former captain PR Sreejesh showcased his brilliant skills as the custodian behind the goal post. 

Sreejesh’s performance not only saved the game for India but also made us believe that the field hockey team is here to do something amazing. For India, it was captain Harmanpreet Singh who scored from the penalty corner, marking his seventh goal at Paris 2024.

Fans were effusive in their praise to veteran Sreejesh who played a pivotal role in India’s hard-fought victory.

“Played 42 mins with 10 men-Took the lead after going down to 10-Played 9 v 11 for a few mins-Took the match to a penalty shootout - PR Sreejesh the legend save after save and then two saves in the shootout. Team India are through to the semifinal,” tweeted another fan.
