Despite the uncertainty over the hosting of Asia Cup, Pakistan has reportedly agreed to tour India for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023.
However, as per a report published in a cricket based website, Pakistan has expressed a few concerns about its tour to India.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reservations over playing the high-voltage game against India in Ahmedabad. It could be one of the reasons why PCB Chairman Najam Sethi visited the ICC office in Dubai over the last couple of days.
Sethi seems to be asking for a few changes to the venues of its matches as a face-saver. However, PCB has reportedly agreed to play the final in Ahmedabad, if Pakistan reaches the summit clash.
As per the tentative schedule, Pakistan is most likely to play its games in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru. The BCCI has provided venues in the South Zone for most of Pakistan games. As those venues have records of being peaceful hosts with a very sporting crowd.
Notably, BCCI and PCB are at loggerheads with each other over Asia Cup 2023 which was earlier scheduled to be held in Pakistan. However, BCCI are pushing for a change in the venue as team India will not tour Pakistan for the mega event. Though PCB proposed a hybrid model for the Asia Cup where India’s matches can be played outside Pakistan, the member countries and ACC have rejected the proposal. As per reports, Asia Cup is set to be moved out of Pakistan and most likely to be held either in Sri Lanka or Bangladesh.
Earlier, Pakistan had threatened to pull out of ODI World Cup 2023 if India doesn’t agree to tour Pakistan for Asia Cup.
