Odisha star Pramod Bhagat scripted a dream return to international competition at the China Para Badminton International 2025, capturing the Men’s Singles SL3 gold medal after an 18-month absence. His triumph marked an emotional comeback, underlining his enduring class, resilience, and fighting spirit.
Bhagat’s road to gold was nothing short of dramatic. Facing Indonesia’s Muh Al Imran in the final, he suffered a crushing 21-15 loss in the opening set. But the ace shuttler showcased trademark determination to turn the match around, winning 21-19, 21-16 in a thrilling contest. The victory was particularly poignant, as Bhagat missed the Paris Paralympics following three whereabouts failures making this medal a powerful statement of his return.
Pramod further added to India’s tally with a silver medal in Men’s Doubles, partnering Sukant Kadam. The duo fought hard against compatriots Jagadesh Dilli and Naveen Sivakumar, eventually going down in a nail-biter 18-21, 22-20, 18-21.
