The Uganda Para Badminton International 2025, held from July 1 to July 6 in Kampala, Uganda, concluded with Odisha’s para shuttlers delivering an outstanding performance on the international stage. The Odisha contingent bagged a total of four medals, comprising one silver and 3 bronze medals, reaffirming their rising stature in global para sports.

Subhrajeet Maharana secured a silver medal  in the Men’s Singles SL4 category showcasing stellar form, defeating J. Obura of Uganda in the semifinals (21-10, 21-07) before settling for silver in a closely contested final.

He also bagged a bronze medal  in the Men’s Doubles SL3-SL4 category partnering with fellow Odia shuttler Pujyam Mishra. The duo reached the semifinals but fell to the Peruvian pair Renzo Bances and Gerson Jair Vargas with a scoreline of 21-16, 21-19.

Bibhasindhu Barik also won a bronze medal in the men's doubles SL3-SL4 category making a promising international impact. Bibhasindhu teamed up with Chandraprakash of Madhya Pradesh. They cruised past Uganda’s D. Mukisa and J. Obura (21-7, 21-13) to enter the semifinals, ultimately securing bronze.

Nurul Hossain Khan bagged another bronze medal in the men's singles WH2 category. Nurul displayed commendable grit before bowing out in the semifinals against India’s Haris Mythili Srikumar (21-12, 21-08), earning a bronze medal.

These achievements underline the hard work, dedication, and international potential of Odisha’s para athletes. Their exemplary performance has brought pride to the state and is a source of inspiration for many aspiring sportspersons.
