India suffered a humiliating defeat against Australia in the recently concluded 2023 Men’s Cricket World Cup. However, the Men in Blue led by Hitman Rohit Sharma bounced back and brought home the prestigious 2024 T20 World Cup. Now, the Indian Cricket Army is looking forward to the 14th edition of the Cricket World Cup in 2027 that is scheduled to be played in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia in October and November 2027.
Meanwhile, India’s veteran pace bowler Mohammed Shami has given his verdict and batted for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to be part of the team.
“Please pray for them both and their fitness. I want Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, myself and the whole team of 2023 World Cup to be part of the 2027 Tournament. We will definitely bring the cup home,” Shami stated.
Talking about Virat Kohli, Shami further stated, “We always challenge each other during net practice. He loves to play great shots and I love to take his wicket. We share this special bonding, special friendship and we enjoy a lot.”
Shami also revealed interesting facts about Rohit Sharma and said that the Hitman avoids playing his bowling. “Rohit toh pehle hi keh deta hai, main isko khelne pasand nahin karta,” Shami revealed.
Recalling the devastating loss to Australia during the 2023 World Cup, Shami was one of the best bowlers for the team. Despite winning all the matches, India lost the final match to Pat Cummins-led Australian team.
It is highly possible that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will retire only after the 2027 World Cup. Hopefully, they bring home the ICC Trophy before they finally hang their boots.
