A disturbing video of a mob attacking Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan after the World Cup 2023 debacle has taken social media by storm. The footage captures enraged fans physically assaulting Shakib after Bangladesh’s early dismissal in the recently concluded ICC World Cup 2023.
The fans can be seen holding Shakib by his shirt, pulling his collar, and throwing him to the ground. If reports are to be believed, the incident occurred while Shakib had been to a jewelry store in Bangladesh. Angry fans ambushed him and tried to attack him.
Lucky for him, he was saved by his bodyguards and other people who rescued and took him away before anything untoward happened. Popular X page Ghar Ke Kalesh shared the video on X, formerly known as Twitter and wrote, “Kalesh b/w Bangladeshi Fans and Shakib Al Hasan, when he returned to Bangladesh after poor World Cup campaign.”
Since being shared online, the video has been going viral with social media users slamming the attackers. However, OTV cannot verify the authenticity of the video.
In this World Cup, the Bangladesh team hit rock bottom with 6 consecutive losses in 7 games, making them the first team to be eliminated from the tournament. Their downfall has left Bangladeshi fans shocked who attacked Shakib.
Shakib has been leading the Bangladesh team as the captain and now finds himself in a fix after the team’s poor performance. Moreover, his bad form has further infuriated the fans.
