Man who saved Rishabh Pant’s life now battles for survival after Poisoning himself with girlfriend
Rajat Kumar, who played a crucial role in rescuing Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant after his horrific car accident in December 2022, has reportedly attempted suicide along with his girlfriend by consuming poison.
According to sources, the couple consumed poison after facing opposition from their families regarding their relationship. While Rajat's girlfriend, identified Manu Kashyap died, he is battling for his life.
25-year-old Rajat and 21-year-old Manu belonged to different communities, and their families strongly disapproved of their relationship. Despite their efforts to convince their families, Manu was eventually engaged elsewhere, leading the couple to stop meeting. Devastated, they consumed a powerful pesticide in a desperate act, sources informed.
A doctor attending to Rajat stated, “Both consumed a strong pesticide. We began immediate treatment. Manu's family moved her elsewhere, but Rajat is improving under our care.”
Rajat came into the spotlight in 2022 when he helped pull Rishabh Pant from his burning vehicle after the cricketer’s near-fatal accident on the Delhi-Dehradun Highway. Pant suffered severe injuries and took over a year to fully recover before making his comeback in IPL 2024 as the Delhi Capitals captain. Now, he is part of India’s squad for the Champions Trophy 2025.
While Pant moved on from his tragedy, the man who once saved his life now fights for his own, marking another heartbreaking turn of fate.
