Prolific Indian batter Virat Kohli stunned fans and experts across the globe by announcing his sudden retirement from the longest format of the game on Monday.

Kohli's sudden retirement from Tests made everyone ask 'why', as he still had at least three more years left in him. Now, the exact reason behind Kohli's retirement has been revealed.

As per reports published in come sections of the media, the desire to spend more time with the family was the reason behind Kohli's retirement.

Though Kohli's retirement came as a shock to many,  he took the call in an attempt to spend more time with his family. Kohli is the father of two young kids and has always mentioned the importance of spending time with family.

Moreover, Kohli was reportedly unhappy with the family diktat of BCCI. Though Kohli expressed about his concern to BCCI, but the governing body was in no mood to make any changes to it, hence, Kohli decided to walk away from Test cricket.
