Semi-final losses in the 2007 and 2011 World Cup, runners-up in the 2015 and 2019 World Cup, T20 World Cup 2021 and 2022, and once again semi-final loss to India in the ongoing 2023 World Cup, the New Zealand team has been very unlucky in the game.

Despite the team’s consistency and tremendous performances, luck hasn’t been on the side of the Kane Williamson-led team. Even as 1.4 billion Indians are celebrating India’s entry into the World Cup 2023 Finals, they are feeling sad for Kane Williamson, the gentleman with zero haters and a king without a crown. It’s not easy being Kane Williamson.

It seems like sometimes things are just not meant to be. The way Kane's boys fight back, the admiration for the team comes from within. Despite heartbreaking losses, Kane never loses his million-dollar smile and his temper. Even as MS Dhoni is lovingly called Captain Cool, he himself wouldn’t feel bad if the title was given to Kane.

Kane’s ODI World Cup dream remains broken and he is the only fab four members to never win it. Above all, he is so humble, gentle, and down-to-earth that no one can ever hate him.

Cricket lovers across the globe took to social media to hail the New Zealand skipper with adorable gifs, videos, and pictures as this might be his last World Cup. However, the NZ skipper is confident and insists that they still have a future.

“It’s not over just yet,” a determined Kane Williamson said after his side was eliminated from the World Cup with a 70-run defeat to India.
