Several fans of Delhi Capitals and experts are not sure about the captain of the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025.
In response, former Team India wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik disclosed that explosive all-rounder Axar Patel will lead the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025 season. However, the official announcement in this regard is yet to be made.
Karthik feels that the upcoming T20I series against England presents an excellent opportunity for Axar to showcase his leadership skills. Karthik hailed the move by BCCI for appointing Axar as the vice-captain to Suryakumar Yadav. He highlighted that it is a significant role for the all-rounder.
“Wishing Axar Patel all the best for the India vice-captaincy role. A good opportunity for him. He is also set to captain the Delhi Capitals. So here is a good opportunity for him to lead and show the way. He has also been leading for Gujarat in the past,” said Axar.

Notably, Axar has been with the Delhi Capitals for the past six seasons. Moreover, he has been retained by the franchise for a hefty Rs 18 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Karthik feels that the development reflects his importance to the franchise.
