LSG Owner Sanjiv Goenka
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) began IPL 2025 with high hopes and a star-studded squad, including the record-signing of Rishabh Pant for Rs 27 crore. Expectations soared after their aggressive auction strategy and powerful line-up featuring Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, David Miller, and Pant. But despite the firepower, LSG fell short of a playoff berth after a critical loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Goenka's Heartfelt Message
With fans buzzing about the franchise’s future, especially Pant’s leadership, team owner Sanjiv Goenka finally addressed the season's downfall. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:
"It's been a challenging second half of the season, but there's much to take heart in. The spirit, the effort, and the moments of excellence give us a lot to build on. Two games remain. Let's play with pride and finish strong."
The post featured a telling image, Goenka with his hands on Pant’s shoulders, surrounded by other LSG players, reflecting unity amidst adversity.
Pant Speaks on Injuries and Setbacks
Post-defeat, Pant cited the injury-hit bowling attack as a key reason behind the team’s underperformance.
"We had gaps due to injuries, and though we didn’t speak about it publicly, it was hard to cover them. With a fully fit squad, things could’ve been different," he said.
Bright Spots in a Gloomy Run
Despite the disappointment, sparks of brilliance came from Nicholas Pooran, Aiden Markram, and debutant Digvesh Rathi, offering hope for a stronger comeback next season.
