Nothing seems to be going right for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the current edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The five time champions have so far lost seven matches in the mega event.
After replacing veteran batsman Rohit Sharma and appointing Hardik Pandya in his place as the captain of the team, nothing seems to be going according to plan for Mumbai Indians. They are playing not good as usual MI levels and rumors about bad dressing room handling are surrounding them.
Moreover, MI’s last defeat against Delhi Capitals has intensified rumours about the dressing room atmosphere.
Following their defeat against DC, Hardik Pandya publicly blamed southpaw Tilak Varma for the team’s failure to chase down 258 runs. The star all-rounder slammed Varma for not being aggressive enough against left-arm spinner Axar Patel, adding to the growing tension within the team.
Reports have been published in some section of media about the clash between Pandya and Varma after the team’s defeat to DC. Pandya’s public criticism of Varma didn’t go down well with the young batsman leading to a confrontation.
Meanwhile, as per a tweet from a popular X account (earlier known as Twitter) followed by Rohit Sharma, it was Rohit and the MI’s owners who intervened and resolved the issue between Pandya and Tilak.
With fans booing Pandya on the grounds and MI performing miserably in IPL 2024, the team seems to be missing Rohit’s leadership.
