IPL 2024: 5 players who can repeat their heroics for KKR in 2012 and 2014 seasons

Kolkata Knight Riders is considered one of the popular teams in IPL History. Under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir, KKR has made a name in the IPL by winning two titles in 2012 and 2014. Since then they have shown promise but failed to progress in final stages of IPL.

Here’s a look at 5 players who can play key roles for KKR in this IPL edition

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer had a World Cup to remember as he notched up 530 runs and scored two centuries for India. Despite missing out in IPL 2023 due to injury, Shreyas Iyer would be looking to make a statement in this IPL.

Rinku Singh

Rinku Singh grabbed all the attention after he hit 5 sixes to Yash Dayal which helped KKR to win the match out of nowhere. The dashing left-hander has been an asset for the KKR team and showed promising signs of an explosive finisher in his short IPL career. Despite facing several obstacles in his initial days, his passion for the game of cricket is a hallmark of his success. He can play a key role for KKR in IPL 2024. 

Phil Salt
This explosive opener from England knows only one way ‘See the ball hit the ball’. He can demolish the attacks when he is in form. With his inclusion, The KKR batting line-up looks even more threatening. 

Mitchell Starc
The Aussie fast bowler became the most expensive player at the auctions after KKR bought him for Rs 24.75 crore. Mitchell Starc’s experience will add much value and impetus to KKR bowling line-up. He can become the X factor for KKR in this IPL. 

Venkatesh Iyer 
Venkatesh Iyer rose to the occasion by making a sensational debut in IPL 2021, he played a pivotal role that helped KKR reach the finals. The flamboyant left-hander also has a hundred in IPL. He and Phil Salt will look to provide a perfect start for KKR in the opening 6 overs.  

With Gautam Gambhir as their batting mentor, it would be pertinent to see how Gambhir performs. Can he be the guiding light and make KKR lift their 3rd IPL title, only time will tell.

KKR will play their first match against SRH on March 23 at Eden Gardens.
