Former India all-rounder and head coach Ravi Shastri slammed Delhi Capitals Team Director and former India captain Sourav Ganguly as the team lost their fifth match on the trot in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

Delhi Capitals are in disastrous form in the current edition of the cash-rich league as they lost their fifth encounter against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 23 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday. They are yet to open their account and the team is languishing at the bottom of the points table.

Taking a dig at the former BCCI President Ganguly, Shastri sarcastically said, “Sourav Ganguly, the former president of the board. He must have thought it’s nice upstairs!”

“Problem now with Delhi Capitals is, especially with the way the other teams are going, you lose five on the trot, it becomes very, very difficult to come back,” Shastri added during the commentary.

The team dugout has some of the legendary names in world cricket including three-time World Cup-winning former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting as the head coach. Moreover, they have world-class players like skipper David Warner, Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, and Anrich Nortje in their ranks. However, the team has failed to impress so far.

Earlier, former Team India flamboyant opener Virendra Sehwag had also slammed the Delhi Capitals staff and players including Ganguly and Ponting for the team’s disastrous show.
