Several former cricketers, experts and fans across the globe were surprised after 23 wickets fell on the first day of the second Test match between India and South Africa in Cape Town on Wednesday. Legendary Sachin Tendulkar was also no exception.
Responding to the development, the Master Blaster took to his social media account X (earlier known as Twitter) to express his feeling.
“Cricket in 24 begins with 23 wickets falling in a single day. Unreal! Boarded a flight when South Africa was all out, and now that I’m home, the TV shows South Africa has lost 3 wickets. What did I miss?” Sachin tweeted.
Following Mohammed Siraj’s explosive spell in the first innings, premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s six-wicket haul helped India bundle out South Africa for 176 in their second innings. India now need a total of 79 runs to win the second Test match.
Bumrah was the hero of the day as he scalped six wickets and did not let South Africa score easy runs. However, Aiden Markram was the savior for the Proteas as he brought up his century and gave his side a decent lead.
Notably, India were bundled out for 153 in their first innings.
