Shardul Thakur appeared visibly displeased with how the captain managed his bowling workload during Day 2 of the Manchester Test at Old Trafford. In the post-day press conference, Thakur gave a candid response, making it evident that he was unhappy with his limited role with the ball.

After missing out on the last two Tests, Thakur returned to the Playing XI, replacing the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy. He made a valuable contribution with the bat, scoring 41 runs.

However, when India bowled 46 overs on the second day, Thakur was given just five overs. He struggled to make an impact, conceding 35 runs at an economy rate of 7.

When asked about his underuse with the ball, Thakur responded, “Bowling changes are entirely the captain’s decision. It’s not in my control. The captain decides who bowls when.”

He further remarked, “I felt I could have bowled a couple more overs today, but again, that’s up to the captain. It’s tough to find rhythm with such short spells, but I try to rely on my experience.”
