Many former cricketers across the globe have hailed Rishabh Pant's heroic act when he came to bat against England by limping down the stairs of the Old Trafford cricket stadium in Manchester on Thursday.
After consuming painkillers and taking injections to his toe, injured Pant brought back memories of Antigua 2002, when Anil Kumble, with a broken jaw, bowled 14 consecutive overs and dismissed the dangerous Brian Lara.
Praising his effort, England veteran pacer Stuart Broad said, " We just don’t know what's coming from Pant." "I am astounded he’s out there,” said a surprised Dinesh Karthik. In response to Pant's effort, former Australia captain Ricky Ponting said, "Who says you need to use your feet?" Former England captain Michael Atherton responded by saying, "T he most remarkable fifty, in the circumstances."
However, the best reaction came from former India great Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar.
"Resilience is about playing through pain and rising above it. Rishabh Pant showed tremendous character by walking back into the game with an injury and delivering a performance like that. His fifty is a powerful reminder of the grit and determination it takes to represent your country. A brave effort, and one that will be remembered for a long time. Well played, Rishabh," Sachin wrote on social media account X (earlier known as Twitter).
