In a series where India has battled hard against a determined England side, Ravindra Jadeja has etched his name in the annals of cricket history. During the fourth Test at Old Trafford, the Indian all-rounder became the first Indian player ever to achieve the rare double of 1000 Test runs and 30+ wickets in a single overseas country, a feat that underlines his consistency and value to the side.

By completing 1000 Test runs in England, Jadeja joined an elite club of all-rounders, becoming only the third player in cricket history to record this double in an away country.

The other two? The legendary Wilfred Rhodes, who scored 1032 runs and took 42 wickets in Australia, and the iconic Garry Sobers, who amassed 1820 runs and 62 wickets in England.

Jadeja’s current tally in England stands at 1000+ runs and 34 wickets, a testament to his all-round prowess and longevity in challenging conditions.

India’s Fightback in Manchester

The milestone came during a gritty second-innings effort by India, who were staring down the barrel at 0/2 while chasing down a mammoth deficit of 311. Spearheaded by a masterclass from Shubman Gill (103) and a composed knock by KL Rahul, the duo added 188 runs for the third wicket, mounting a strong resistance.

Though both fell on Day 5, Jadeja and Washington Sundar took up the mantle, ensuring India stayed in the contest and pushed the match toward a draw.

Legacy Sealed

With this achievement, Jadeja not only reaffirms his status as one of the best all-rounders in modern cricket but also places himself in a league of all-time greats on foreign soil, where it matters most.
