Despite fighting centuries by  Harry Brook and Jamie Smith, India stayed in control of the second Test against England at Edgbaston.

After taking a lead of 180 into the first innings, Indians reached stumps on 64-1 with only the loss of Yashasvi Jaiswal (28). The visitors will resume on Saturday with 244 runs ahead and with a series-tying victory in their sights. While KL Rahul was unbeaten on 28, Karun Nair was accompanying him on 7.

Mohammed Siraj, who was the pick of the bowlers for India in the first innings, has revealed the visitors' planning in the second innings.

"We are quite ahead right now. But the plan is to get as many runs on the board because we know their attacking mindset," said Siraj.

Notably, with a lead of 244 runs, India are in a very good position to win the match. They must have learnt their lessons in the first Test by taking England lightly in their second innings. The onus is now on the batters to take India to a formidable position so that it will be out of reach for the England batters in the second essay. The bowlers will then have an easier task to bowl out the hosts.
