The much-awaited T20 World Cup 2024 has already kicked off. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team will have to wait a few more days before their journey begins against Ireland on June 5.

While several fans of the Indian team eagerly waiting to watch the team’s performance, Rajasthan Royals (RR) all-rounder Riyan Parag has made a shocking statement. The aggressive cricketer expressed disinterest in watching the mega event this year.

Though Parag had a stellar Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, he was not considered for the Indian team in the T20 World Cup.

In a recent interaction, Parag candidly admitted that he would be more concerned about the T20 World Cup if he were playing. This year, however, he lacks interest in the mega event.

“It will be a biased answer to predict the top four teams. But, I don’t even want to watch the World Cup. I’ll just see who wins it at the end, and I’ll be happy. When I play in the World Cup, I’ll think about the top four and all of that,” Parag stated.

Notably, Parag had scored a total of 573 runs at an impressive average of 52.09 and a strike rate of 149.21 in the recently-concluded IPL 2024. He is fully confident to make it to the Indian team soon. After the T20 World Cup, India will tour Zimbabwe with regular players likely to be rested. Under the circumstance, selectors are expected to send a young squad including Parag.
