In a scene straight out of a cricketing fairytale, Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi and his son Hassan Eisakhil shared a rare and unforgettable moment on the field. During a Shpageeza Cricket League match, Eisakhil faced his father not just with respect but with fearless intent, smashing a massive six off Nabi’s delivery.

The crowd erupted, witnessing a special chapter in Afghan cricket, a father and son competing at the highest level of domestic T20.

A Family Affair in the SCL

The memorable clash took place during the match between Amo Sharks and Mis Ainak Knights. Eisakhil, opening for the Sharks, looked in sublime form and top-scored for his team with a brisk 52 off 36 balls, helping them post a competitive 162 runs.

In the ninth over, Nabi was brought into the attack, only to see his son step down the pitch and launch the ball over the boundary with a confident strike, a moment that had fans roaring in delight.

Nabi’s Experience Prevails

But cricket’s unpredictability meant Nabi had the final say. The Knights chased down the target with ease, winning by five wickets and 18 balls to spare.

Fittingly, it was Nabi who struck the winning runs, finishing the game with a six of his own and taking his team to the top of the table.

A Dream Waiting to Unfold

Earlier this year, Nabi shared his dream of playing alongside Eisakhil for Afghanistan in ODIs, calling it one of his greatest aspirations. “It’s my dream. Hopefully, we can do it. He is a hard worker, and I’m pushing him to keep going,” Nabi told ICC.

If realised, their partnership could mark a historic first for Afghanistan cricket — a father and son sharing the international dressing room.
