India is likely to miss the services of all-rounder Hardik Pandya in the next World Cup match against England in Lucknow on October 29. Pandya is still recovering from an ankle injury he picked up during the Bangladesh match in Pune.
“Yes, Hardik is likely to miss the next match vs England in Lucknow. It is more of a precaution at this stage and nothing serious, "a BCCI official source said.
The Indian all-rounder didn’t travel with the Indian team in Dharamsala and he was advised to rest by the BCCI medical team. He is likely to join the team before the match vs. Sri Lanka in Mumbai on November 2, 2023.
On the other hand, India continued their winning run in the ICC World Cup 2023 by winning 5 matches in a row as they sit at the top of the table. Virat Kohli’s astute knock of 95 ensured India won the game by 4 wickets against the formidable New Zealand side in the last match at Dharamsala.
Mohammad Shami made an excellent comeback as he picked up his 2 five-wicket haul in World Cups. During his spell, He bowled impeccable lengths at the death overs which ensured New Zealand didn’t post a big total on the board.
With Hardik being unavailable due to injury, India is likely to stick to the same playing XI against England in Lucknow.
