This is the Islanders’ first bilateral ODI series victory over India since 1997. Moreover, this is also India’s first humiliating defeat after former cricketer Gautam Gambhir replaced Rahul Dravid as the Head Coach of Team India. Commenting on the complacency from the Indian side, Rohit Sharma said that Team India has to look at the loss individually and as a game plan.
“I don’t think it is a concern. But, it is something we have to look at individually and as a game plan. It is a joke. When you are playing for India there is never going to be complacency. When I am captain there is no chance of complacency. But, you have to give credit to good credit. Sri Lanka played better than us,” Rohit stated during the post presentation ceremony.
Meanwhile, the Rohit Sharma Army will lock horns with England in a three-match ODI series in February 2025. The series will be played across three different venues in India.
