India got a taste of their own medicine when they were bowled out for just 109 runs in the first innings of the ongoing third Test against Australia at the spin-friendly pitch of Holkar Stadium in Indore on Wednesday.
Earlier, the hosts had put up a dominating display in the previous two Test matches against the visitors in Nagpur and Delhi. However, they failed to negotiate the Australian spinners after opting to bat first.
It is not often that India struggle to score runs in its own backyard. Their score of 109 against Australia today turned out to be their fourth-lowest total at home.

South African pace battery of Dale Steyn (5/23), Makhaya Ntini (3/18) and Morne Morkel (2/20) ran through the Indian batting line-up at Ahmedabad in 2008. The hosts were bundled out just for 76. Skipper MS Dhoni (14) was the highest scorer for India.
83 vs New Zealand at Mohali in 1999
New Zealand bowled out India for a paltry 83 in the first Test in Mohali in 1999 with career best figure from Dion Nash (6/27). However, India came back strongly in the second essay to draw the match.
82 vs England at Chennai in 1977
Bob Willis and Derek Underwood took seven wickets between them to hand India a heavy defeat in Chennai as the hosts were skittled out for just 82 runs in their second innings.
88 vs New Zealand at Mumbai in 1965
New Zealand pacer Bruce Taylor starred for the guests as his five wicket haul helped New Zealand bundle India out for just 88 runs. However, the match ended in a draw.
