BCCI is currently searching for a suitable head coach of Team India as Rahul Dravid’s extended tenure is coming to an end after the T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in USA and West Indies. The last date to apply for the coveted job has ended on May 27 and there has been no report about the former players applying for it.
Moreover, National Cricket Academy (NCA) current chairman VVS Laxman is also not interested for the job.
Meanwhile, as per a recent report in India Today, former Team India batter Gautam Gambhir is set to become the new head coach of Team India. The report stated that the former southpaw is ready to take on the challenges to coach the Men in Blue in all the three formats.
However, the former ODI and T20 World Cup winner has to leave the mentorship job of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to join as the head coach of the national team.
Under his mentorship, KKR have emerged champions in IPL 2024. Under his able tutelage also, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) entered the playoff rounds in IPL 2022 and IPL 2023.
