Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has publicly criticised Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar for his comments on the recent attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

Kaneria condemned Dar's reference to the attackers as 'freedom fighters', which follows a trend of controversial remarks from Pakistani officials.

Incident in Pahalgam

The attack in Pahalgam has been marked as the deadliest since the Pulwama incident in 2019, with widespread condemnation from the international community. Despite this, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister sparked debate by characterising the attackers in a contentious light.

Cricketer's Response

Kaneria expressed his disapproval of these remarks on social media platform X (previously known as Twitter), sharing his views that such statements tacitly support state-sponsored terrorism. In his post, he stated, "When the Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan calls terrorists 'freedom fighters,' it's not just a disgrace—it's an open admission of state-sponsored terrorism."
