Mumbai Indians' Resurgence

After a faltering start to their IPL 2025 campaign, Mumbai Indians have regained their form with four consecutive wins, enhancing their position on the points table. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants maintain their playoff aspirations, boasting five victories from nine matches despite some inconsistencies in performance.

Pant's Performance Under Scanner

LSG captain Rishabh Pant has come under scrutiny due to his inconsistent form, with only one half-century to his name this season. His batting was a topic of criticism in the recent match against Chennai Super Kings when he was sent to bat at the unusually low position of number seven. He only faced two balls before being dismissed without scoring, a decision that sparked discontent among fans and analysts alike.

Sehwag's Unique Solution

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has offered advice to Pant, advocating for a more dominant role similar to his approach during the 2011 World Cup. "A captain should decide what position he wants to play. I told everyone the first DRS is mine, whether I'm out or not," Sehwag recalled. He emphasised the importance of asserting one's capability to secure victory, "I knew I could win the match if I played for long. This is a fact. Rishabh Pant needs to convey his ability to win matches for LSG if given the right batting position."

Strategic Suggestions for LSG

Sehwag further recommended that Pant be positioned at number four in the batting order. "I think no.4 is good for him. Management often pushes struggling players lower down, which is why he came in at no.7. In-form players are prioritised, explaining such decisions," he explained.

Pant's position and performance remain pivotal for LSG as they continue to navigate through the tournament hoping to claim a spot in the playoffs.
