Following pressure from BCCI selectors, veteran cricketer Rohit Sharma was forced to announce his retirement from the longest format of the game.

As per sources, the likes of Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant were some of the names discussed to be the next captain of the Indian team in the longest format of the game.

As per reports published in some sections of the media, Shubman Gill seems to be the frontrunner to take over the Test captaincy of the Indian team, and the star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is likely to serve as his deputy.

Meanwhile, former Australia National Cricket Team captain Michael Clarke has issued a massive warning to BCCI as they hunt for a new captain to replace Rohit in red ball cricket.

According to Clarke, India will miss the services of Rohit in Test cricket, especially as captain, because he is a tactical genius.

Clarke feels that replacing Rohit will be very hard for any player, and the current India ODI captain reads the game exceptionally well.

"Rohit is a player that any team would miss. Tactically as a captain he will be very hard to replace. He reads the game exceptionally well," said Clarke in a recent interview.

The former Australia great is also of the opinion that Kuldeep Yadav would be the difference maker in India's bowling department in the five-match Test series against England, and he would be India's trump card.
