For any footballer a World Cup is the ultimate stage to have their name etched in history. The golden glove is a significant achievement for any goalkeeper because they remain under a lot of pressure during these marquee events. FIFA World Cup 2022 is no different. Here is a list of some of the best goalkeepers who stand a good chance of winning the Golden Glove.

1. Thibaut Courtois (Belgium)

This Belgian goalkeeper won the 2018 World Cup Golden Glove and looks like a great candidate to repeat the feat. The goalkeeper is currently arguably the best in the world and has achieved great success lately. He is heading into the World Cup after winning the Champions League and La Liga, as well as being named the best goalie in the world.

2. Manuel Neuer (Germany)

German first-choice goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will be heading into his fourth World Cup, and as with every year, he will be a topmost contender for the Golden Glove award. He has won the award in the 2014 World Cup already and will hope to do the same again.

3. Hugo Lloris (France)

It is expected that the captain of the team that won the 2018 World Cup will be France’s goalie again and will seek personal glory as well as team glory this time. Although the goalkeeper is 35 years old, he has proved himself to be a top Premier League performer this season and a rock-solid goalkeeper. France will again be counting on him to defend the championship.

4. Alisson Becker (Brazil)

The Brazilian goalkeeper appears poised to reclaim the role of first-choice after regaining his mojo this year. Tite chose Ederson over Alisson at the Copa America in 2021 after the former keeper's disastrous time with Brazil. In recent friendlies, the Liverpool star has regained his starting spot and seems to have secured it before the World Cup.

5. Unai Simon (Spain)

The Spanish team has experienced many changes under Luis Enrique, and the introduction of Unai Simon to the goal was one of his most significant moves. Goalkeepers from Athletic Bilbao have revolutionised the Spanish National Team setup and provided the team with a much-needed sweeper-keeper option. His performance in the national team has been a symbol of Spain's impressive achievements. He looks like a strong contender heading into the World Cup.

With a formidable line up like this, let’s wait and watch to see which goalkeeper wins the Golden Glove at the World Cup in Qatar.
