India have set up a tantalising finale at Lord’s, giving themselves a golden opportunity to script a memorable win in the third Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. After bowling England out for 192 on Day 4, Subhman Gill side now need 193 runs to seal a famous victory but history suggests it won’t be easy.

Sundar Spins a Web Around England

England’s second innings unravelled against India’s disciplined bowling attack. Washington Sundar was the standout performer, bagging four crucial wickets including Joe Root and Ben Stokes, while the pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep kept relentless pressure from the other end. Siraj set the tone early by removing Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope in a fiery morning burst.

The Challenge of 193 at Lord’s

Chasing 190-plus at Lord’s has historically been a daunting task. It has been achieved only six times in the venue’s Test history. Notably, two of those have come in the past three years, with South Africa famously chasing 282 against Australia just last month to lift the World Test Championship.

India’s highest successful chase at Lord’s remains 136 in 1986, guided by Ravi Shastri and Kapil Dev. But with uneven bounce and rough patches now aiding England’s bowlers, India face a stern test.

Early Setback for India

India’s chase began on a shaky note as Yashasvi Jaiswal perished to a rash pull shot off Jofra Archer as at the end of Day 4 India are 58-4 and require 135 runs to win. With conditions worsening, Shubman Gill and his men will need a mix of grit and composure to scale this tricky target.

A Date With History?

Can India defy the odds and register their first 190-plus chase at Lord’s? Or will England’s bowlers seize the moment on a wearing surface? Day 5 promises a thrilling conclusion to a gripping Test.
