Following the horrific stampede near the M Chinnaswamy stadium during the victory celebration of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) post their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 triumph that took 11 lives, a new social media trend has started, where netizens are demanding the arrest of superstar Virat Kohli.

On the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), the hashtags #ArrestKohli and #ShameOnRCB have been trending over the past 24 hours. Although the matter is being under investigation, a section of netizens have demanded arrest of Kohli on social media.

"You cried over a franchise league win, but where were those tears when a fan died because of your selfish choice?" asked a fan.

"Virat Kohli, you’ve lost every bit of respect from us. Leaving early for London cost loyal fans their lives — and you don’t even seem to care," wrote another fan.

"SHAME ON RCB," tweeted a third user.

Notably, the prolific batter spoke highly about the fans after winning the IPL, which ended their 18-year-long drought.

"I've stayed loyal to this team, no matter what. I've had moments where I thought otherwise, but I stuck to this team. I stood behind them, they stood behind me. And I always dreamt of winning it with them. This is far more special than winning it with anyone else because my heart is with Bangalore, my soul is with Bangalore," Kohli had said after the match.
