Abhay Singh, popularly known as 'IITian Baba,' gained prominence during the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela through his unconventional blend of technical education (aerospace engineering from IIT Bombay) and spiritual claims. He recently hit the headlines after predicting that India would lose to Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025.
The prediction video posted by Unibit Games on Instagram crossed 16 million views within days, amplified by provocative statements targeting star players like Virat Kohli: 'Tell them to win today if they can.'
IITian Baba At Receiving End
However, his prediction has backfired spectacularly after Virat Kohli knocked a stupendous century to help India take an easy win and throw arch-rival Pakistan out of the tournament. Now, he is being slammed online for his anti-India remarks and fake future prediction.
Popular MBA Chaiwala founder Prafull Billore, who is often termed as ‘Panauti’ online, was the first person to comment and wrote, “I have resigned recently from my job. It’s all IITian Baba’s now !! Ram ram, Jay Shri Ram.”
“Haris Rauf ke baad Kohli ne mera bhi career khatam kar diya,” a fan hilariously wrote. Another fan shared, “This is how fraud Baba's fool people. Don't believe in anything this IITianBaba is saying.”
Social Media Memes Response
Memes flooded platforms within hours – one viral tweet showed Jay Shah holding an 'LKG Admission Form' for IITian Baba while others labeled him 'terrorist of India'.
Over 140 million interactions were recorded across Twitter/X alone using hashtags like ‘#IITianBaba’. Notably, many users contrasted his prediction with Rohit Sharma’s leadership philosophy – 'He believes in karma, we believe in Sharma'– reflecting public distrust in non-sporting prognosticators.
Post-Match Apology
Facing intense backlash including death threats, the IITian Baba issued a tactical apology via X that read, “Mujhe man hi man pata tha ki India jeetega (I knew deep down India would win)”. However, this failed to curb criticism about exploiting nationalist sentiments for clout.
Match Dynamics That Defied Predictions
India’s six-wicket victory was anchored by Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 100 off 111 balls – his maiden Champions Trophy century – which neutralized Pakistan’s bowling attack led by Shaheen Afridi.
Key statistical contrasts included Pakistan’s collapse from 180/4 to 241 all out against Kuldeep Yadav (3/40) and Hardik Pandya (2/31). The result propelled India toward semi-final qualification while eliminating Pakistan mathematically.
