Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan accused of murder

Shakib, who is currently playing for Bangladesh in the ongoing Test series against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, is included among the 156 people accused in the murder case.

Bangladesh star cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has been named among 147 persons accused in a murder case related to the August protests in Bangladesh.

As per reports published in some sections of media, Shakib is listed as either the 27th or 28th accused in the First Information Report (FIR) lodged at Dhaka’s Adabor police station.

A garment worker Mohammed Rubel’s father Rafiqul Islamhas reportedly filed the complaint on Thursday.

Rubel, who was a garment worker by profession, died on August 7 after being hit by a bullet during the movement on August 5 this year.

Shakib, who is currently playing for Bangladesh in the ongoing Test series against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, is included among the 156 people accused in the murder case.

Notably, Shakib has played in 67 Tests, 247 ODIs and 129 T20Is for Bangladesh. He is regarded among the top all-rounders of world cricket. He has scored 14,500 international runs across formats and captured 703 wickets.

Shakib also plays in leading T20 leagues like IPL, PSL, CPL and the BPL across the globe.
