Kumar sought report from the Ministry on complaints by SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son Akhilesh Yadav, also a member, and she asked Lalji Tandon (BJP) to give her in writing the problem he faced from the administration.
Samajwadi Party members have been raising the issue for the last few days in the House about the alleged highhandedness by police against the party leaders and workers in the state.
Amid demands by Mulayam Singh Yadav that his complaint as also that of Akhilesh be referred to the Privileges Committee, Kumar assured him that after getting a factual report from the Home Ministry, she will decide future course of action in the matter.
She said the complaint of Mulayam Singh Yadav was against the District Magistrate and DIG of Lucknow for forcible detention while Akhilesh has alleged misbehaviour by senior officers of the district administration against him.
Supported by BJP members, Tandon alleged that Uttar Pradesh police had forcibly entered his house and vandalised it soon after he addressed a rally of Mayors and Chairpersons of the Municipal Council seeking more powers to the local bodies in the state.
BSP member Vijay Bahadur Singh opposed the pleas by the SP and BJP members alleging that they were unnecessarily raising a hue and cry.
When the issue was raised earlier, BSP had claimed that the police had taken precautionary measures following SP leaders` advise to its members that they would have to "shed blood" to get tickets for the next year`s assembly polls.
