Berhampur: Six persons allegedly involved in two murder incidents in Ganjam district were arrested today. Unknown miscreants had beheaded a person at Karapalli village under Gopalpur police station last week while the body of one Bhagirathi Patra with his head and other body parts severed was recorded from roof of a building.

Two out of four persons allegedly involved in the last week`s murder incident were arrested, said SP, Berhampur, Shefeen Ahemed. The two arrested were identified as Iswar Reddy of the Karapalli village and Santosh Sahu of Itamati in Nayagarh district. Reddy was involved in at least 18 crimes spread across three police districts of Berhampur, Ganjam and Puri, the SP said.

Similarly, in another incident police arrested four persons in connection with the murder of Partha Nayak, a priest at Madanmohanpur under Golanthara police station. The incident had taken place on February 29. The arrested persons were identified as Jaga Patra, Simanchal Sethi, Surendra alias Tempu Pradhan and Dandapani Patra. Land dispute was stated as the cause of the murder, the SP said.
