Thane: Seven persons including four women have been arrested in connection with a dowry harassment case, involving a young bride here, police said today.

API Deepak Dalvi of Kasarwadavali police said the victim Neelam Ramesh Kasar, 21 was married to Ramesh Kasar, a automobile service centre owner from Waghbil on May 11 last year.

Within a couple of months her in-laws allegedly started making dowry demands and harassed her mentally and physically. They went to the extent of beating her blue and black and drove her out of the house in July.

Based on the complaint by the victim the police have registered a complaint under sections 498-A, 406, 323, 504 and 506 of the IPC, police added.

The names of the arrested are Ramesh Kasar, Parvati Kasar (mother of Ramesh), Chandebai Patil, Anira Manera, Chatrapati Manera, Jagdish Patil and Rohini Patil.
Further investigations into the case are being carried out by Kasarwadavali police.
