Berhampur: Seven persons were arrested from Bhanjanagar area in Ganjam district for alleged involvement in several crimes, including two recent bombing incidents, police said today.

Police also seized some firearms, including a mouser, a revolver, two single-shot guns, 40 rounds of ammunition, three crude bombs, two motorcycles and four mobile sets from them, Superintendent of Police P (Ganjam) Ashish Singh.

While five persons were arrested near a temple located on the outskirt of the town yesterday, others were booked during raids in some other places, police said.

We have arrested five persons near the temple, while they were planning for a major crime in the area. Arms and ammunition were also seized from them, said sub divisional police officer (SDPO) Bhanjanagar Ramesh Chandra Majhi.

Police also seized the gloves, masks and some empty liquor bottles from the spot.

While three of them were involved in the recent bombing case at Muzagard, two others were allegedly involved in a similar incident in Bhejiput, where at least four persons were injured, police said.

The arrested persons were identified as Pintu Mohanty, Prasant Bisoi, Mangulu Pradhan, Basant Parida, Simanchal Gouda, Sagar Sethi and Krushna Sahu.
