Bhubaneswar: Nearly 100 people were detained in connection with Seragada crusher unit death incident in Ganjam.

“We have detained them for interrogation and those who are found guilty would be arrested. Later they will be court forwarded,” the police said.

On Saturday, the State Home Secretary had asked the DIG (Southern Range) and Ganjam SP to submit a report on this incident.

According to primary investigation, around 200 people were involved in this gory incident. The eight people, who are believed to be owners, partners and employees of the crusher unit, were brutally charred to death by a mob. 

The mob also hurled bombs at the police and fire personnel.

The police along with dog squads and the scientific team are investigating the case.

The DIG (Southern Range), R K Sharma had said that there were frequent altercations between locals and the crusher unit owners over the last two months after the former objected to blasting in the area.
