Berhampur: A group of armed men on Monday looted around Rs 8 lakh in cash from two employees of an automobile showroom here, police said.

At least three motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched the bag containing the cash from A Laxmi Prasad Rao and Abhinash Pathak near the crowded medical college area here.

The employees were going to deposit the cash in a nationalised bank in the area when the two were robbed.

"We have intensified patrolling across the town to nab the looters," SDPO (Berhampur) SC Mohapatra said. All nearby police stations were alerted to track the looters, he said.
